A 47-year-old man has been charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a 5-year-old girl who was riding in her family's car in northwest Harris County.

Jeremy Porter is accused of opening fire on the vehicle near Grant Road and Jones Road at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Zah'Layah was struck by gunfire and later pronounced dead at a hospital.
