(KGNS) - Laredo police have identified the man found dead in a brushy lot on Hillside as 31-year-old Dakota Ray Meeks.

Meeks's widow told KGNS he disappeared on Sept. 4, and officers were searching for him before a maintenance worker found his body Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Investigators say the worker was hired to clear the overgrown property across from the Hillside Apartments when he found Meeks' body and called 911. People who live nearby said they often saw Meeks around the block and noted he was living unsheltered and frequented the area.
