POLK COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A district judge serving Polk, San Jacinto and Trinity counties has been publicly admonished by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct.
258th District Judge Travis Kitchens, who won his primary in March and is unopposed in November, was admonished by the SCJC for "failure to comply with the law and failure to maintain professional competence in the law" in two separate actions in his court, according to the official State document.
In the public admonition document, issued during its August 12-13, 2026 meeting, it was stated that the first violation was imposed regarding Kitchens' requirement that defendants and their attorneys review four documents covering prison and parole procedures in the State of Texas.
