TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - More than 30 days without rain has East Texas fire crews on high alert, warning that a single spark could trigger a devastating wildfire."We're in a flash drought," said Smith County ESD2 Division Chief of Training Charles Clanton, describing the bone-dry conditions currently gripping the region.

Clanton warns that the prolonged lack of rainfall has made local brush and vegetation highly receptive to ignition.

In these conditions, even a minor accident like an overheated trailer bearing or dragging road chain can easily spark a massive blaze.
