LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - A Longview man was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison for shooting a woman at a motel in 2025, with a visiting judge handing down the maximum penalty for the charge.

Michael Duane Jones, 59, received 20 years for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon - the maximum sentence for that charge - and five years for deadly conduct to discharge a firearm, which carried a maximum of 10 years.

Visiting Judge Lauren Parrish ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
