BOWIE, Texas (KXII) - A 12-year-old boy died and a 14-year-old is in critical condition after a UTV crash near Bowie last night, according to the Department of Public Safety.

DPS said three people were on board the UTV heading east on Hildreth Pool Road when the driver swerved to avoid another vehicle, ran off the road, hit a tree and caught fire.

Troopers said the 12-year-old died at the scene, the 14-year-old was airlifted to Cook Children's, and the 43-year-old driver had minor injuries.
