HOUSTON, Texas (KBTX) - A group of professors and the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) filed a federal lawsuit Monday night challenging the Texas A&M University System's censorship policy, which they argue limits discussions on race, gender, and sexual orientation.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, claims the policy violates the First Amendment and is unconstitutionally vague.

According to the complaint, the policy was implemented in late 2025 and requires extensive, bureaucratic reviews of course syllabi.
