WOODWAY, Texas (KWTX) - To mark one year in business, the owners of HOTWORX in Woodway chose a blood drive over a party - and the donations are hitting close to home for a Central Texas teen fighting cancer.

Franchise owner Guida Scheer said she wanted the milestone to mean something beyond the gym's walls."I really just wanted to do something to get out in the community and do some good," Scheer said.

"I wanted to focus more on community than, you know, the hustle and bustle of, you know, a regular one-year anniversary."The community response drew 35 people to sign up and give blood.
