GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A man has been charged with murder after investigators determined his girlfriend's death, which was initially reported as a suicide, was actually a homicide, according to the Galveston County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said that 71-year-old Robert Brown was charged with murder in the shooting death of 74-year-old Barbara Barraque in Crystal Beach.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to a home on Oct. 17 in the 1100 block of Crystal Beach Road after receiving a report of a suicide.
