Today, Don Huffines was sworn in as Texas Comptroller; Gov. Greg Abbott appointed him in early July.

Huffines said he plans to cut government spending, increase transparency and push for additional property tax relief.

The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts announced Huffines officially took office Saturday, Aug. 1.
