LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Lubbock Police Department held a "Meet the Recruiter" event Tuesday evening at the LPD Academy near the Reese Center, giving potential applicants an overview of what to expect on entrance exam day, the hiring process and the academy.

Attendees had the opportunity to ask recruiters questions and get hands-on practice with the row machine, which is used during the physical portion of the entrance exam."The first thing that they'll have to do is they're going to take a written test and so we're able to provide them with a study guide to get prepared for that as well as a physical test," a recruiter said.

"With our Meet the Recruiter event, that allows them to get some practice on the row machine because on entrance exam day they'll do both of those tests on the same day, so that gets them prepared for what's to be expected."The deadline to apply for an officer position is 5 p.m. on Aug. 7.
