MATAGORDA COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The United States Postal Service says Matagorda could see a new post office open as early as this week, after more than six years without one.

Matagorda is a small coastal community about 100 miles south of Houston and has been without a post office since early 2019, when the USPS said the lease on the original postal building ran out.

Matagorda residents told ABC13 they have to drive about half an hour to the Wadsworth post office, roughly 10 miles away, to get deliveries, documents, and medication.
