FORT HOOD, Texas (KWTX) - Steven Moore retired Thursday after a lifelong Army journey that began as a field artilleryman in 1980.

Moore received the Department of the Army Superior Civilian Service Medal, the second highest medal the U.S. Army presents to civilian employees, during a ceremony where Col. Mark McClellan presented the award.

Moore served as a field artilleryman until 1994, when he transitioned to Army Public Affairs at Fort Hood.
