CYPRESS, Texas - A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized in fair condition after being struck by gunfire while sitting inside his family's minivan in northwest Harris County, authorities said.

Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies responded Friday night to the 8700 block of Barker Cypress Road near West Road, where the child was inside the vehicle with a parent and three siblings.

The family had been waiting in a business parking lot for another relative.
