LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The City of Lufkin's Jones Lake cleanup project is ahead of schedule, according to Parks and Recreation Director Buddy Timme.

Timme said dry summer weather has allowed crews to make faster progress, and the project could be finished in under a year."If there was one good thing about the drought this summer, it enabled us to do a lot of work, because we can't do it when it's muddy and can't get the equipment in," Timme said.

Crews are between 20% and 30% finished with the second half of the lake cleanup, Timme said.
