The state's preeminent criminal investigations agency is looking into allegations regarding Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher in connection with his family's pending sale of property to a data center developer.

Guadalupe County Sheriff Joshua Ray said he received information over the summer suggesting Kutscher violated state laws in dealings with representatives of a data center project proposed on land the judge and his family own.

To avoid any appearance of conflict of interest or political influence, Ray reviewed the information and forwarded it to Guadalupe County Attorney David Willborn, who then referred the matter to the Texas Rangers.
