A new exhibition at The Heritage Society is asking visitors to look at the American Revolution from a different direction - not from the familiar story of the thirteen colonies, but from the communities of Spanish Texas that helped shape the conflict.

The traveling exhibition, "Spanish Texas During the American Revolution: Life and Legacy, 1775-1783," opened Tuesday at the museum's gallery at Sam Houston Park in downtown Houston.

Produced by the Mexican American Museum of Texas in partnership with historian and author Dr. Tim Seiter, the exhibit explores how Tejanos and Spanish settlers experienced the Revolutionary era - and how their labor, resources and support campaigns reverberated far beyond Texas.
