Tomas Valle American Legion Auxiliary Unit 479 is taking over Uvalde's annual Wreaths Across America project, which will honor veterans buried in Uvalde and Sabinal cemeteries.

The group has set a 2026 fundraising goal of 2,000 wreaths.

As of Sept. 23, donors had sponsored 99, or about 5 percent of the goal, with 1,901 to go.
