WEST, Texas (KWTX) - A summer marked by persistent triple-digit heat and severe drought has dealt a devastating blow to Western Belle Farm, destroying its entire pumpkin crop and stunting its corn maze ahead of its fifth fall season.

Co-owner Taylor Huffman said the family-owned farm hand-planted 3,500 pumpkin seeds earlier this year, hoping to provide visitors with a traditional pick-your-own pumpkin patch experience."This has been absolutely our worst year with trying to grow a maze and trying to grow a you-pick pumpkin patch," Huffman said.

"Central Texas is a tough climate for crops like pumpkins, but it's the experience that we're trying to provide."Mother Nature, however, did not cooperate.
