LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Some school administrators from the South Plains are learning how to better communicate with their community in a crisis.

Hale Center Superintendent Hector Dominguez says communication during an emergency is not something that happens in addition to the response from law enforcement and the school."One of my biggest takeaways is that when an incident happens, communication is not separate from the response. It's part of the response," Dominguez said.

Dominguez and other South Plains superintendents from Smyer and Olton are at Public Information Officer training at the Tarrant County Sheriff's Training Academy in Fort Worth this week."I don't think that anyone can ever say that they're completely prepared for an emergency situation or a tragedy like Uvalde to take place," Dominguez said.
