NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KLTV) - An East Texas university provost says certain fields would be difficult to shorten into three-year bachelor's degree programs.

Dr. Jordan Barkley, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Stephen F. Austin State University, said programs requiring specialty accreditation would present a challenge.

Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) visited the Nacogdoches school in August to outline his desire for public colleges in Texas to create three-year programs for bachelor's degrees in high-demand fields, reducing the time needed for students to spend in classes by one year.
