POLK COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A Polk County Jail inmate died following a medical emergency Sunday, according to the sheriff's office.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office said Johnny Bernard Miles, 66, suffered a medical emergency while being held at the county jail.

According to the sheriff's office, jail staff responded around 10:25 a.m. and Miles was taken to a hospital where he later died around 11:44 a.m. The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident as an in-custody death.
