AUSTIN, Texas (KBTX) - For thousands of families in the Brazos Valley, the choice comes down to this: buy groceries or pay the rent.

The executive director of the Brazos Valley Food Bank, Theresa Mangapora, said demand at her food bank has never been higher in her more than two decades running it."Right now, we are feeding more people, distributing more food, and more frequently than we ever have in the history of the time I've been at the food bank," Mangapora said.

Mangapora joined leaders from Feeding Texas and food banks across the state at the Texas Capitol Tuesday for Hunger Action Day, warning lawmakers about upcoming changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.
