HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- ABC13 has learned that grand jury proceedings are underway in the deadly ICE shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo.

Law enforcement sources confirmed on Wednesday that the proceedings had begun in the case, adding that witnesses were being brought in to be interviewed by the grand jury.

Salgado Araujo was fatally shot during an enforcement operation on July 7 by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who opened fire on the white van he was driving.
