WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Labor unions gathered across Texas Monday for a statewide slate of Labor Day events hosted by the Texas AFL-CIO, which represents more than 250,000 workers.

Events took place from the Permian Basin to Tyler and Waco.

Central Texas luncheon focuses on workersAt the Central Texas luncheon in Waco, the focus was on the workers who keep communities running."Today we're celebrating Labor Day. It's a day set aside for the working people. The working people is sometimes forgotten. You have your plumbers, you have your pipe fitted, electrician workers, elevator workers, your post office. All those people are working middle class, labor workers," said Everett Wyllie, president of the Central Texas Labor Council.
