The North East Independent School District has fired two police sergeants and disciplined three other officers after a botched response to a threat against Serna Elementary School earlier this year.

Sgt. Moses Suarez failed to escalate the threat against the school or timely act upon it through the district's established procedures after being made aware of it Aug. 28, his termination paperwork states.

Suarez has denied wrongdoing and earlier this month told KSAT the threat was handled like the "hundreds of others" made against the district.
