KATY, Texas (KTRK) -- Katy Independent School District has entered Texas' school voucher program through its virtual learning program, a move the district says will provide more educational options for students while generating additional revenue.

The district's Virtual Legacy High School, its 16th high school, is approved to participate in the Texas Education Freedom Accounts program, allowing students statewide to enroll in virtual classes.

Katy ISD officials say the program offers flexibility for students while helping the district bring in supplemental funding.
