HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Harris County commissioners approved one of the largest tax rate increases in recent history that could add hundreds to your property tax bill.

After months of budget discussions, commissioners approved a new tax rate on Thursday.

Between the county, flood control district, Port of Houston, and hospital district, the rate will climb from $0. 6241 to $0. 6715 of $100 of appraised home value.
