A confrontation in southeast Fort Worth turned fatal early Saturday morning when an altercation between two people erupted into gunfire, leaving one person dead and another wounded.

Fort Worth police officers arrived at the 4100 block of East Berry Street around 2:20 a.m. after dispatch received a report of a physical fight in progress. Upon reaching the scene, responding officers learned that gunshots had been fired during the dispute.

Paramedics found a man suffering from a gunshot wound at the location. Despite emergency medical intervention, the victim could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased individual's identity had not been disclosed as of Saturday morning.

A second person involved in the incident sustained a gunshot wound to the leg but managed to arrange private transportation to a nearby hospital. Medical personnel determined the injury was not life-threatening, and the victim remained in stable condition.

The circumstances that sparked the initial fight and subsequent shooting remain under investigation. Fort Worth Police Department detectives are working to determine what led to the violence and the identity of those involved.
