HUTTO, Texas (KWTX) - Six men are facing felony charges following a two-day multi-agency child exploitation operation in Hutto, police announced. [KWTX-TV News 10]
A collaborative law enforcement sweep in Hutto on Aug. 22-23 resulted in the arrests of six men suspected of attempting to solicit minors for sexual exploitation through online channels. The coordinated operation targeted adults believed to be seeking contact with children under age 15 through internet-based platforms.
The investigation involved personnel from multiple agencies working in tandem to identify and apprehend suspects. The Hutto Police Department led the effort alongside the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Round Rock Police Department, Williamson County Emergency Communications and DarkHorse Benefits, a nonprofit organization that provides specialized resources for child exploitation investigations.
Among those taken into custody were men ranging in age from 28 to 55 years old, hailing from across the greater Austin area. A 37-year-old Hutto resident and a 29-year-old Round Rock resident were each charged with attempted sexual performance by a child. Four additional suspects—a 55-year-old from Georgetown, a 28-year-old from Pflugerville, a 43-year-old from Leander and a 34-year-old Round Rock resident—were booked on charges of online solicitation of a minor.
Hutto Police Chief Jeffrey Yarbrough characterized the operation as a demonstration of effective interagency cooperation. "Protecting children is one of the most important responsibilities we have, and this operation is a strong example of what can be accomplished when our officers, our law enforcement partners, and our community are all working toward the same goal," Yarbrough said in a statement.
Police emphasized that the investigation remained active and subject to developments. Authorities noted that initial charges could be upgraded, amended or supplemented as investigators gathered additional evidence and processed the cases through the judicial system.
