Chase ends with human smuggling bust in south Laredo

LAREDO, Tex. [KGNS News]
U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Laredo Sector apprehended a vehicle operator on federal human smuggling charges following a pursuit through a residential area of south Laredo on July 20.
The incident unfolded around 8 p.m. when Border Patrol agents began surveilling a Ford Expedition traveling on Masterson Road in an area bounded by Highway 83 and the Riverfront neighborhood. Agents initiated a pursuit of the vehicle, which officers say ended after a brief chase.
Law enforcement took the driver into custody at the scene. Alongside the operator's arrest, agents also detained three additional individuals found in or near the vehicle who were identified as people present in the country without legal authorization — one woman and two men.
The driver now faces federal charges related to transporting undocumented immigrants, according to the Laredo Sector Border Patrol. The agency did not provide additional details about the specific charges or circumstances that prompted agents to initially target the vehicle.
The apprehension reflects ongoing enforcement operations along the Texas-Mexico border, where federal agents routinely patrol neighborhoods and major thoroughfares in pursuit of smuggling networks.
