A Texas A&M University technology executive remains jailed on serious criminal allegations stemming from accusations originating in McLennan County. Darvis Griffin, 55, who held the position of executive director of information technology at the College Station university, was taken into custody Sept. 3 following the execution of a warrant by Texas A&M police. He faces a first-degree felony charge alleging continuous sexual abuse involving a minor, a conviction for which carries potential sentencing of 25 years to life imprisonment.

The specific charge requires prosecutors to demonstrate at least two separate instances of sexual abuse against a child younger than 14 years old, occurring over a minimum span of 30 days. Griffin currently is housed at the Brazos County Jail while awaiting transfer to McLennan County to make his initial court appearance. The precise nature of any connection between Griffin and the alleged victim remains undisclosed.

The university confirmed Griffin's employment status has been altered pending the outcome of an internal examination. According to his professional networking profile, Griffin joined Texas A&M's technology division in 2020, initially as an assistant chief information officer before his advancement to the top technology role in 2023.

Prior to his employment at the university, Griffin held technology leadership positions within the Waco school system, serving as both chief technology officer and assistant superintendent overseeing technology initiatives. His previous role in an educational setting adds additional context to the current allegations.

Court filings and related case materials may currently be restricted from public access, according to sources familiar with the proceedings. The limited availability of case details means substantial aspects of the allegations and the circumstances surrounding them remain largely unknown at this stage.
