BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - A Houston-area woman is headed to prison for seven years for her role in a Brazos County drug ringProsecutors say Monica Valdez worked with Abraham Escobar - the man at the center of the 2023 drug raid that led to the death of 22-year-old Mark Hopkins.

Judge John Brick sentenced Valdez to seven years for her part in the College Station drug conspiracy.

Investigators called Escobar a "high-level drug dealer." Escobar also faces charges of engaging in organized criminal activity.
