Feds confirm surge in military troops, Chinook helicopters on Rio Grande Valley border
Federal military troops and Chinook helicopters have been repositioned to the Rio Grande Valley for border patrol operations following a Coast Guard shooting incident in Starr County.

Border Report on Wednesday confirmed that "hundreds" of military troops have been repositioned from other border posts to the Rio Grande Valley and are actively patrolling from McAllen, in Hidalgo County, and throughout Starr County.
It comes after Coast Guard were shot at Sept. 26 from Mexico while patrolling the Rio Grande in Starr County.
