Houston - The City of Houston's moratorium on water service disconnections officially ends today, putting thousands of residents at risk of having their water service disconnected.
Houston Public Works confirmed that crews are resuming shutoffs for customers who are more than 90 days past due or carry an unpaid balance exceeding $500.
Department figures show approximately 15,000 account holders owe a collective $30 million in delinquent charges.
