What started nearly 13 years ago as a small gathering outside KSAT has grown into a major fundraiser and source of support for families affected by brain cancer.

The Head for the Cure 5K began with family and friends coming together to honor Jim Boyle, KSAT's late news director, who died after a battle with brain cancer.

Since then, the race has continued to grow, drawing nearly 1,000 participants last year.
