PALO PINTO COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) - Authorities identified a woman found dead near a burning vehicle late last month, and a suspect remains in custody facing a capital murder charge.

The Palo Pinto County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as 32-year-old Leah Dawn Adams.

According to deputies, the investigation began on August 27, 2026, when first responders answered a 911 call regarding a vehicle fire at Oaks Crossing along the Brazos River.
