CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will lower the speed limit on part of State Highway 361, near Port Aransas, and is seeking the public's input on additional safety improvements for the infamous coastal roadway.

What we know: TxDOT announced that the highway's speed limit will drop from 60 mph to 50 mph on Tuesday, Aug. 25 between Park Road 22 and a point south of Beach Access Road 1A, in Port Aransas.

Electronic message boards will display the new 50 mph limit along the corridor to notify drivers about the change after it takes effect.
