A University of Houston football player's bond was raised Monday after investigators accused him of assaulting a pregnant woman during an argument about an abortion pill, according to investigators.

Carmello Dedric Brooks, 19, had his bond increased from $15,000 to $50,000 by Judge Matthew Peneguy.

Brooks was taken back into custody Monday but is expected to post the new bond and be released, according to his attorney.
