BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Brazos Valley community members packed the Bryan Girl Scout House on Tuesday evening, to fight for the future of Camp Howdy-the area's only Girl Scout camp.

The public question-and-answer meeting followed the July 28 announcement by the Austin-based Girl Scouts of Central Texas (GSCTX) council of its plans to sell the historic 64-acre camp.

In response to the proposed divestment, two distinct community initiatives have formed:The Camp Howdy Legacy Initiative: Focused on preserving the physical property, protecting its long-term future, and preventing a sale.
