Frustrated with what he described as years of underfunding his department, the Guadalupe County sheriff recently lashed out at county commissioners for their budgetary decisions.

Recent budget choices led to Sheriff Joshua Ray hinting that changes could come to the way some area school districts meet state mandates involving school resource officers.

However, after speaking with school officials, nothing is likely to change before the end of the calendar year, the sheriff said.
