An 18-wheeler carrying an oversized load struck the Houston Avenue bridge on Interstate 10 eastbound Friday morning, blocking two lanes and prompting officials to assess the bridge.

The crash happened around 11:15 a.m. on I-10 eastbound at Houston Avenue, according to traffic information.

The truck was carrying a large spindle and had oversized-load placards displayed.
