LAMPASAS, Texas (KWTX) - Lampasas ISD bans all energy and caffeine drinks on campus, according to a social media post on the Lampasas High School Facebook page.

According to the post, after recommendation by their School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), the district approved updated guidelines regarding energy drinks and other high-caffeine products on all K-12 campuses."The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children and adolescents avoid energy drinks because of their high caffeine content and other additives," the post said.

These products can affect a student's developing heart, brain, and nervous system and may cause rapid heart rate, increased blood pressure, anxiety, sleep problems, and difficulty concentrating in the classroom, according to the post.
