WILLIS, Texas - Willis High School was placed in a hold status after staff members discovered a loaded gun on campus Monday morning.

In an email sent to families, the school confirmed the discovery and said a student has been detained.

"Students and staff are safe and we expect the hold to be lifted shortly. We appreciate the student who reported the concern so that it could be addressed. We will share additional information with families as it becomes available," the email reads in part.
