NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Members of Jacob's Memorial Church of God in Christ gathered for worship Sunday in a temporary sanctuary, less than a week after a late-night fire leveled their longtime church home.

The blaze broke out late Monday night, just hours after congregants had gathered for an evening service.

Pastor Leonard Berry said church deacons had completed a walkthrough and locked up the facility before leaving.
