Gregg Co. officials propose tax increase to offset revenue losses

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - The Gregg County Commissioners Court has approved moving forward with a proposed three-cent property tax rate increase, with a public hearing scheduled for Aug. 25.
The increase would raise the county's tax rate from $0. 30 to $0. 33 per $100 valuation.
County Judge Bill Stoudt said the proposal would cost the average resident approximately $44 per year, or about $3. 52 per month.
