ATHENS, Texas (KLTV) - A major water leak Monday prompted Athens officials to issue a boil-water notice for the city's residents.

Citizens should continue to conserve water and may experience low pressure or temporary loss of service while crews work to address the leak, according to a press release.

Officials urged residents to consult the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality website for guidance on drinking, cooking, brushing teeth and other uses."Water for drinking or other human consumption should be boiled and cooled prior to use," the website states.
