WATER, GEOLOGY, FLORA AND FAUNA CHAPTER II From: Texas Development Board, APRIL 1967 Economic Base Report on Smaller Communities Program The Edwards-Trinity Aquifer crops out, or directly underlies the Cenozoic Alluvium, in most of Pecos County.

It consists of numerous rock formations of lower Cretaceous age, the most important sources of water supply being the "Trinity sand" and, above this, a number of dense limestone strata that yield water from cracks and cavities formed by solution.
