SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - Austin College freshmen packed meals bound for families in need in Honduras to mark the start of college.
Before opening a textbook, freshman Aquila Gbelia and her classmates took part in what could be described as an Austin College rite of passage."We like to start all the freshmen off with a service project. It's one of our big values here at Austin College is service," Sarah Clingman, junior at Austin College, said."I was like really nervous like the first three days, but now I'm like super excited," Gbelia said.
Students worked an assembly line packing meals to be sent to Honduras."We open bags and they put protein and vegetables and soy and rice and then we just hand it off and we're having a good time just laughing and stuff," Gbelia said.
