On Tuesday, Aug. 25, the Tye Preston Memorial Library in Canyon Lake held a groundbreaking ceremony for its renovation and expansion project.
Since the library opened its doors in 2010, the population of the area has grown by 63%, bringing a significant increase in library use, Library Director Jenny Rodriguez said.
She added that in the past 16 years, the library has seen a 47% increase in patrons through the doors, a 51% increase in materials checked out and a 319% increase in the number of people attending library programs.
